CENTERVILLE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's soccer program is off to its best start in school history following a 1-0 victory over Indiana East on Saturday, September 7 to improve to 5-0-1 overall.
The Cougars and Red Wolves opened Saturday afternoon's game in a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to score a goal in the first 45 minutes of action.
The scoreless battle continued in the second half, until the 63rd minute when Courtney Tobin got the ball and passed it to Carlee Biddle who fired a shot into the back of the net to put the Cougars up 1-0. This marked Biddle's second goal of the season and Tobins' fourth consecutive game with an assist.
As a team, Saint Francis took seven total shots and finished the match with five corner kicks. Junior Kayden Tassler and freshman Rachel Bova combined for the shutout with seven total saves in goal.
"Today's match was our third shutout of the season," Head Coach Nuber said. "And I continue to be proud of how hard the team is working. We are off to the best start to a season in the program's 30-year history!"
Up next, USF women's soccer will host Trinity Christian College at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium on Wednesday, September 11.
