Arriana Benjamin Named NAIA Women's TF Field Athlete of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After being named the Crossroads League Field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon, the NAIA has named Marian women's track and field senior Arriana Benjamin as their NAIA Field Athlete of the Week. Benjamin is the second Knight in the track program to claim the honor this season, with Jacob Netral bringing home the award two weeks ago.
Benjamin turned in runner-up finishes in the weight throw and shot put for Marian at the IUPUI Invitational, hitting NAIA A standards in both events. Benjamin broke her own school record in the weight throw with a distance of 17.87m, while her 13.82m throw in the shot put allowed her to hit an A standard for the first time this season.
Benjamin was named the Crossroads League Field Athlete of the Week on Monday for the 10th time in her Marian career, including both indoor and outdoor track. The senior's efforts played a role in Marian gaining nine positions in this week's USTFCCCA poll, as the Knights currently rank 14th in the NAIA.
The Knights will travel to Indiana Wesleyan this weekend, as they compete in their annual IWU Midwest Classic.
