No.7 IWU Begins League Play With Sweep of No. 21 Grace

MARION, IND. - No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan began Crossroads League play strong, defeating newly ranked #21 Grace College. The win marks 21 straight wins in the Crossroads League for the Wildcats, dating back to a loss against Taylor on October 22nd of 2022.

MATCH VITALS

  • Playing on their home court for the first time since students returned to campus, IWU took a 5-1 lead to begin the first set. After Grace responded with 5 straight points, the teams traded points until an 8-2 run forced the Lancers to use both of their timeouts. The Wildcats eventually took the set 25-18.
  • Set two saw the teams continue to trade points until the home team used a 5- 1 run, taking a 19-15 lead. Coming out of a Wildcat timeout, the red and gray used a 5-3 run to finish of the set 25-22.
  • IWU forced an early timeout from Grace, taking an early 12-6 lead. The Lancers pulled within 2 points at 16-14, but the Wildcats responded with a 9-3 run to complete the three set sweep.
  • Martina Demarchi led the offense with 14 kills. Eva Joldersma tallied 12.
  • Freshman Camaya Murry led both teams with 3 aces.
  • Marissa Mullins had 4 blocks.
  • Cadee Notter recorded 11 digs, Dayessi Luis and Joldersma each had 10.
  • Abbigail Porter posted 38 assists.
