JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top athletes from January 10 through 16. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Maggie Coe, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Coe posted a triple-double in MVNU's 113-107 win at Bethel, netting 22 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists and two steals against the Pilots. Coe added 26 points in an overtime loss to No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan and averaged 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists on the week.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
David Ejah, Saint Francis
Ejah led No. 21 Saint Francis to wins over No. 16 Marian and Taylor with 16.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per victory. The sophomore forward was instrumental in USF's Top-25 win over Marian, posting 20 points and nine boards, before adding a double-double at TU.
Women's Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak had a strong first meet for the Knights, hitting the NAIA A standard in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.96 and posting a win in the high jump with a cleared height of 1.6 meters.
Women's Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Arriana Benjamin, Marian
Benjamin won her shot put event at the Trine Invite with a distance of 12.99 meters, before finishing second and hitting the NAIA A standard with a mark of 16.69 meters in the weight throw.
Men's Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Terril Skinner, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Skinner scored wins in the 60 and 60-meter hurdles for Mount Vernon Nazarene at the Muskingum Invite. The junior posted times of 7.1 in the 60 and 8.5 in the 60-hurdles.
Men's Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Devin Humes, Marian
Humes won both the shot put and weight throw event at Trine for Marian and hit the NAIA A standard in each event. The senior's mark of 17.23 meters in the weight throw was also good for a new Marian program record.
Men's Bowler of the Week
Jordan Shepherd, Marian
Shepherd led all Crossroads League performers at the KEGEL/ISBPA Classic and finished 71st out of 432 competitors overall with 1,039 total pins. The senior posted a high-score of 237 pins at the event.
