JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Tuesday, recognizing the league's top athletes from February 28 through March 6. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Kelli Damman, Indiana Wesleyan
Damman drilled five-of-seven triples for No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan and scored 23 points in a 66-63 win for IWU over No. 4 Marian in the CL Tournament Championship. Damman also added five rebounds, two steals and one assist in the contest.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Frankie Davidson, Grace
Davidson helped Grace complete a historic run to the CL Tournament Championship as a fifth-seeded club, scoring 15 points and netting the final five points of the evening for the Lancers in an 86-85 win over No. 12 Marian.
Women's Bowler of the Week
Alexa Pangonas, Marian
Pangonas help Marian claim the first Women's Bowling Tournament Championship in Crossroads League history.
Men's Bowler of the Week
Jordan Shepherd, Marian
The play of Shepherd helped propel Marian to the Men's Bowling Tournament Championship in the inaugural year of the event in the Crossroads League.
Baseball Player of the Week
Evan Salmon, Indiana Wesleyan
Salmon put up video game numbers over six games for No. 15 IWU, helping the Wildcats to four wins by hitting five home runs and three doubles on the week. The senior also scored 13 times, drove in 13 runs and hit .565 over 23 at bats.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Brennan Morehead, Indiana Wesleyan
Morehead worked nine innings in a 2-1 loss to Spring Arbor for No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan. Morehead piled up 11 strikeouts in the outing, allowing only five hits without a walk and yielding just one earned run.
Softball Player of the Week
Alyssa McDonald, Goshen
McDonald ignited the Goshen offense in a 6-0 week, hitting .571 with a .654 on-base clip and 1.000 slugging percentage. McDonald went 12-for-21 at the plate in the six games, swatting two homers among four extra-base hits, driving in 12 runs and scoring seven times.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Mia Pawelski, Goshen
Pawelski went 2-0 in the circle for Goshen, firing 13 innings without allowing an earned run and yielding just five hits and two walks. Pawelski overpowered opposing hitters with 14 strikeouts over the two outings.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Olivia Creech, Spring Arbor
Creech scored wins at No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles for SAU in the Cougars' win over Albion.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Martin Carrizo, Indiana Wesleyan
Carrizo helped No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan to wins over No. 4 William Carey and No. 12 Middle Georgia State and closed the week 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles in a trio of matches against nationally-ranked opponents.
