JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top athletes from April 25 through May 1. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Denver Blinn, Indiana Wesleyan
Blinn led IWU to a series win over Marian in the final weekend of the regular season, hitting .500 in the four games with three home runs, 11 runs driven in and six runs scored. Blinn also doubled once, had three multi-hit games, walked three times and stole a pair of bases.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Luke Shively, Taylor
Shively fired eight shutout innings with just two hits and one walk surrendered in No. 24 Taylor's 9-0 win against Grace. The senior ace whiffed eight hitters and recorded his Crossroads League-leading 10th win on the bump this season.
Softball Player of the Week
Shelbie Stotts, Marian
Stotts continued her late-season barrage by hitting .545 with two doubles, one home run, 11 runs batted in and seven runs scored. Stotts had five multi-hit games in six contests and helped No. 17 Marian to a 4-2 week.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Wagner, Indiana Wesleyan
Wagner picked up four more wins in the circle for No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan, going 4-0 with a save in her five appearances. Wagner fanned 28 hitters in her 25 innings and posted a 2.80 earned-run average to help IWU close out the regular season championship.
Women's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Emily Westrick, Spring Arbor
Westrick hit the NAIA-A standard for Spring Arbor in the 5,000-meters, crossing with a time of 17:35.87. The junior's time was good for 14th-of-42 athletes at the Davenport Invite.
Women's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Mackenzie DeLong, Grace
DeLong turned in a pair of strong showings for the Lancers at their home meet, taking third in the shot put and fourth in the discus.
Men's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Erich Rhodeback, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Rhodeback scored individual victories in the 110-meter hurdles and 200-meters for Mount Vernon Nazarene at the Walsh Tune Up. The freshman automatically qualified for NAIA Nationals in the 110-hurdles with a time of 14.53.
Men's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Isaac Brown, Grace
Brown competed in the high jump and javelin for Grace at its home invite, winning both events and automatically qualifying for NAIA Nationals in each.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Jay Williams, Marian
Williams topped the field at the 2022 Crossroads League Men's Golf Championships, shooting successive rounds of 69, 71 and 70 to claim medalist honors.
