JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from September 26 through October 2. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Isabelle North-Greene, Bethel
North-Greene posted 3.0 kills per set at a .509 hitting percentage and added 1.5 blocks per set to push RV Bethel to a 3-0 week that included a four-set win over No. 13 Taylor. The junior went for 12 kills and eight blocks against TU and closed the week with 33 kills to just four errors.
Volleyball Defender of the Week
Molly Galaszewski, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Galaszewski paced the RV Mount Vernon Nazarene defense in a 3-0 week that included wins over No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan and RV Saint Francis. The senior libero had at least 18 digs in all three matches, going for 26 in a five-set victory against IWU.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Kacy Bragg, Taylor
Bragg twice approached a triple-double in No. 13 Taylor's victories over Goshen and No. 17 Marian, posted two double-doubles and climbed to fifth on TU's career assist list. The senior posted 11.7 assists, 2.6 digs, 1.3 kills, 0.7 blocks and 0.4 aces per set while hitting .367.
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak helped No. 3 Marian to a 2-1 victory over No. 2 Spring Arbor, before erupting for three goals and one assist in MU's 4-1 win over Bethel. Oleksak closed the two matches with 15 shots and nine shots on target.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Noelle Rolfsen, Marian
Rolfsen picked up two more wins in goal for No. 3 Marian, adding five saves in her 180 minutes of work. The senior keeper notched three saves in a 2-1 defeat of No. 2 Spring Arbor.
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Martim Sequeira, Grace
Sequeira posted a pair of goals in No. 7 Grace's 5-0 win over Saint Francis and scored in the final minute of a 2-2 draw with Spring Arbor to preserve an unbeaten start for the Lancers. The senior forward ended the week with three goals on six shots.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Finn Popescu, Bethel
Popescu allowed just one goal in a pair of wins for No. 12 Bethel, posting a shutout with one save in BU's 2-0 win over No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan and helping the Pilots to a 2-1 victory against Marian.
Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Addy Wiley, Huntington
Wiley dazzled in her collegiate debut for RV Huntington, crossing at 17:26 to win the Louisville Classic and top a field of 419 competitors.
Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Bryan Hernandez-Rios, Grace
Hernandez-Rios took fifth place out of 416 runners in the Louisville Classic, leading No. 10 Grace to a fifth-place team showing. Hernandez-Rios posted a time of 24:22.
