JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from October 17-23. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Eva Joldersma, Indiana Wesleyan
Joldersma continued putting up eye-popping numbers for No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan, as the freshman posted 59 kills at a clip of 5.4 kills per set for IWU in three contests. Joldersma had at least 16 kills in all three matches and posted a hitting percentage of .333.
Volleyball Defender of the Week
Averi Lanman, Marian
Lanman dominated the net for No. 15 Marian over a trio of sweeps, posting 2.1 blocks and 1.8 kills per set for the Knights. Lanman had eight blocks in two sets against Goshen, and added five more blocks in a 3-0 victory against RV Saint Francis.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Kacy Bragg, Taylor
Bragg helped keep No. 12 Taylor on top of the league standings with a trio of matches with at least 30 assists, seven digs, four kills and one block. The senior excelled in a four-set win at No. 17 IWU with 44 assists, eight digs, four kills, four aces and two blocks.
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak scored twice and assisted another goal to help No. 2 Marian cruise past Goshen by a 6-0 margin. Oleksak ended with five total shots and three on frame.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Allie Schlom, Marian
Schlom filled an offensive role from her wingback position for No. 2 Marian in a 6-0 win against Goshen. The senior struck for three goals, putting all three of her attempts past the GC keeper.
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Martim Sequeira, Grace
Sequeira overwhelmed the Taylor defense, accumulating three goals and one assist in a 5-0 win for the Lancers. Sequeira ended the night with five shots, with all three shots on frame ending in the net.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Matteo Conci, Grace
Conci posted a shutout in No. 11 Grace's lone match of the week, helping the Lancers to a 5-0 victory over Taylor. Conci posted three saves in goal for GC.
Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Addy Wiley, Huntington
Wiley ran the best time of her young career to win the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge. The freshman posted a time of 16:57 to top the field of 214 and help No. 17 Huntington to a fifth-place finish.
Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Bryan Hernandez-Rios, Grace
Hernandez-Rios took second place at the Great Lakes Challenge with a time of 24:19. The senior helped the No. 8-ranked Lancers to a fifth-place team finish at the loaded 28-team event.
Women's Bowler of the Week
Hannah Vaughn, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Vaughn scored the individual title at the Ohio Bowling Conference and set a new four-game OBC tournament series record with a score of 927.
Men's Bowler of the Week
Marlin Yarborough, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Yarborough set a new program record for MVNU with a single-round score of 265 and finished the day with 921 total pins and a seventh-place finish at the Ohio Bowling Conference.
