JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from October 24-30. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Karlee Feldman, Grace
Feldman went off for Grace in a season-opening 42-point win against Michigan-Dearborn. The junior center ended with 28 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks in just 22 minutes of work and connected on 12-of-16 field goal attempts in that time.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Kyle Kegley, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Kegley posted 30 points and 14 rebounds to lead Mount Vernon Nazarene to an 87-81 win over Ohio Christian. The senior forward hit nine-of-12 looks from the floor and went 10-of-13 from the charity stripe.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Victoria Johnson, Indiana Wesleyan
Johnson had 20 kills in a five-set win for No. 19 Indiana Wesleyan at No. 18 Marian and closed the week with 3.9 kills per set on a .452 hitting percentage over a trio of Wildcat victories.
Volleyball Defender of the Week
Grace Ieremia, Taylor
Ieremia had at least six blocks in all three of No. 11 Taylor's victories, helping the Trojans secure the Crossroads League regular season crown. The middle hitter tallied 20 total blocks and averaged 1.8 blocks per set in the trio of TU wins.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Kacy Bragg, Taylor
Bragg eclipsed 4,000 assists for her career, while tossing up 50 helpers in No. 11 Taylor's five-set win at No. 18 Marian. Bragg filled the stat sheet once again in three TU victories, netting 11.4 assists, 1.7 digs, 1.3 kills, 0.5 blocks and 0. 3 aces per set.
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak posted two goals and three assists to help No. 2 Marian wrap up the regular season Crossroads League Championship. Oleksak had two goals in a road win at RV Taylor and added three assists in a road shutout at No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Sofia Lerro, Grace
Lerro recorded two shutout wins for No. 21 Grace, helping the Lancers to 1-0 wins over No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan and Mount Vernon Nazarene with her work between the posts. Lerro had two saves in the defeat of IWU and added three more at MVNU.
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Brandon Nyagurungo, Indiana Wesleyan
Nyagurungo scored twice in each of RV Indiana Wesleyan's matches, helping the Wildcats to a 2-2 draw at No. 12 Grace and a 3-1 win at Marian. The freshman forward ended the week with the four goals on eight total shots.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Jacob Susud, Taylor
Susud posted back-to-back clean sheets in goal for Taylor during a pair of 1-0 wins to close the regular season. The senior notched seven saves in a win at Marian and added four more in TU's victory at Saint Francis.
Women's Bowler of the Week
Faith Hall, Marian
Hall led Marian at the Purdue Classic, winning the event with 1,043 total pins in five games. Hall's showing helped the Knights finish in third place as a team.
Men's Bowler of the Week
Connor Carr, Marian
Carr participated in five games for Marian, posting an average of 225 pins and knocking over a total of 1,124 on the way to a fifth-place finish at the Purdue Classic.
