JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from November 28 through December 4. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Taylor Westgate, Taylor
Westgate powered Taylor to a pair of wins, ending one rebound shy of two double-doubles on the week and averaging 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. The junior forward also shot 51.6 percent from the floor and 40.0 percent from long distance.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Javan Buchanan, Indiana Wesleyan
Buchanan poured in 41 points in 32 minutes of work in No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan's rout of Spring Arbor, before adding 15 points in a thrilling victory at No. 5 Marian. The freshman forward averaged 28.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in the two Wildcat wins.
Women's Bowler of the Week
Peighten Allen, Indiana Wesleyan
Allen led Indiana Wesleyan at the American Heartland Bowling Tournament, finishing in sixth place on the individual leaderboard with a score of 780.
Men's Bowler of the Week
Shea Miller, Indiana Wesleyan
Miller posted a total score of 830 at the American Heartland Bowling Tournament, leading Indiana Wesleyan with a finish of 17th place.
