JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from January 30 through February 5. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Karlee Feldman, Grace
Feldman registered her 17th and 18th double-doubles of the season and posted 19.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in RV Grace's wins over MVNU and Taylor. Feldman shot 75.0 percent from the floor and set GC's all-time record for career blocks.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Griffin Kliewer, Indiana Wesleyan
Kliewer was dialed in for No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan in its wins over Spring Arbor and Bethel. The sophomore guard scored over 30 points in each game, averaging 33.5 points on 70.6-percent shooting. Kliewer also averaged 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per victory.
Women's Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Addy Wiley, Huntington
Wiley competed at the Camel City Invite and became the first collegiate athlete to win the women's mile, topping a field of NCAA Division I and professional athletes. Wiley crossed in 4:32.15 to top the NAIA record by five seconds.
Women's Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak competed at the Notre Dame Invite in the pentathlon and posted the sixth-best score in the NAIA this season with an A-standard. Oleksak also hit NAIA National qualifying marks in the high jump and 60-meter hurdles.
Men's Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Logan Rufenacht, Grace
Rufenacht ran in two different events for Grace, taking second in the DMR with a NAIA-leading time of 9:49.19 at the Notre Dame Invite, and winning the 1,000-meters at the Midwest Classic with an A-standard mark of 2:30.81.
Men's Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Isaiah Tipping, Marian
Tipping won the weight throw at the IWU Midwest Invite with a mark of 19.55 meters to break his own Marian record and hit the NAIA A-standard in the event.
Women's Bowler of the Week
Emily Pepper, Spring Arbor
Pepper won the fourth Crossroads League Bowling Tournament and helped Spring Arbor secure the regular season CL Championship and automatic bid to NAIA Nationals. Pepper averaged 213.75 and rolled a high game of 247 in the opener.
Men's Bowler of the Week
Jacob Perry, Huntington
Perry was the top overall individual finisher in the fourth and final Crossroads League Bowling Tournament. The freshman lefty averaged 233.3 pins per game, piling up 933 total pins over four games of competition.
Baseball Player of the Week
Jeremy Wiersema, Bethel
Wiersema collected six hits in 13 at bats for Bethel, including two multi-hit games in a season-opening set at Blue Mountain Christian. The junior hit .462 in the three games, tripled and stole three bases in four attempts.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Evan Fry, Indiana Wesleyan
Fry excelled in his collegiate debut for RV Indiana Wesleyan, fanning seven batters in 4.2 innings of relief in a 6-4 win over No. 7 Georgia Gwinnett. Fry allowed just one hit and did not walk a batter while earning the win on the bump.
