JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from February 20 through 26. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Ella Collier, Marian
Collier poured in 50 points over a pair of wins for No. 8 Marian to open the CL Tournament. Collier scored at least 22 points in each contest and was dialed in, shooting 63.6 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from three-point range.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Elijah Malone, Grace
Malone powered fourth-ranked Grace into the CL Tournament Finals with 22.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in wins over USF and RV Marian. Malone had 34 points on 12-of-15 shooting in the overtime win against MU.
Baseball Player of the Week
Kaleb Kolpien, Taylor
Kolpien had eight more hits for the Trojan offense in a series win over RV Olivet Nazarene. Kolpien piled up four extra-base hits, drove in eight and scored five times, while also recording a win on the bump in the series opener.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Eric Pettipiece, Goshen
Pettipiece tossed a seven-inning shutout in Goshen's 7-0 win at Brescia. The junior allowed just three hits and one walk in the game and piled up 11 strikeouts.
