JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from February 27 through March 5. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Jordan Reid, Indiana Wesleyan
Reid set a career-high with 22 points in Indiana Wesleyan's, 81-71, win over Marian in the Crossroads League Tournament Championship. Reid hit nine-of-10 field goals in the win.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Elijah Malone, Grace
Malone capped Grace's run to the Crossroads League Tournament Championship with 19 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals in GC's title game win over Huntington.
Baseball Player of the Week
Hunter Billman, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Billman picked up nine hits over seven games to pace the Cougar offense. The sophomore hit .346 and added three home runs, one double, 11 runs batted in and five runs scored.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Drue Young, Indiana Wesleyan
Young fired a complete-game, two-hit shutout in an Indiana Wesleyan win over Grace. Young took the win on the bump, allowed just two walks and fanning eight batters.
Softball Player of the Week
Mollie Pentz, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Pentz helped MVNU to a 6-0 week by hitting .526 with one double, two triples and eight runs batted in. Pentz also scored 12 times, including at least one run in all six games.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sheridan Sullivan, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Sullivan went 2-0 in two starts in the circle for MVNU, pitching 10 scoreless frames for the Cougars. Sullivan piled up 17 strikeouts and allowed only two hits.
Women's Bowler of the Week
Amber Elliott, Huntington
Elliott helped Huntington to the CL Bowling Tournament Championship.
Men's Bowler of the Week
Jacob Perry, Huntington
Perry led Huntington to the CL Bowling Tournament Championship.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Melanie Dveksler, Indiana Wesleyan
Dveksler led IWU to a pair of wins, winning two matches at No. 2 singles and two times at No. 1 doubles for the Wildcats.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Agustin Agosto, Huntington
Agosto went 6-2 for Huntington at No. 3 and 4 singles and No. 1 doubles. Agosto led the Foresters to wins over No. 13 Union and RV Campellsville.
