JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from March 13 through 19. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Satchell Wilson, Huntington
Wilson delivered eight extra-base hits in a series win for Huntington over MVNU, with four doubles, one triple and three home runs in the four-game set. Wilson scored eight times, drove in eight and added two steals, while hitting .600 in the four games.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Graham Kollen, Huntington
Kollen fired a seven-inning shutout at Mount Vernon Nazarene in an 11-0 win for Huntington that helped secure the series victory. Kollen fanned 10 in the game, did not issue a walk and scattered three hits.
Softball Player of the Week
Alisyn Catenacci, Goshen
Catenacci helped Goshen to a 4-0 week, hitting .385 with two home runs and nine runs batted in during doubleheader sweeps of Bethel and Huntington. The junior also took two wins in the circle, fanning 14 batters and allowing just two earned runs in the two complete game efforts.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Olivia Stunkel, Marian
Stunkel continued her dominant work, fanning a career-high 15 batters in a complete game win for No. 23 Marian. The sophomore did not yield an earned run in the 7-1 win over Grace and allowed just three hits and two walks.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Emma Chrome, Marian
Chrome scored wins at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles to help Marian secure a team victory over Oakland City in MU's lone match of the week.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Victor Bonsergent, Bethel
Bonsergent posted victories in three of his four matches, helping Bethel to a pair of team wins. Bonsergent won each of his No. 1 singles contests in straight sets and split his two No. 1 doubles competitions.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Luke Beetz, Marian
Beetz led RV Marian at the Carey Collegiate, tying for 21st on the individual leaderboard with rounds of 75, 77, 73 on the 6,891 yard course.
Women's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Lyssi Snouffer, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Snouffer performed well in the outdoor season opener for MVNU, scoring an individual victory in the high jump at the Blizzard Buster. Snouffer cleared 1.55 meters to set a new program record for the Cougars.
Men's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Erich Rhodeback, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Rhodeback took first place in the 110-meter hurdles for Mount Vernon Nazarene at the Blizzard Buster. Rhodeback opened his outdoor season with a winning time of 14.57 to hit the NAIA A-standard in his first attempt.
