JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from March 27 through April 2. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Lucas Goodin, Indiana Wesleyan
Goodin led Indiana Wesleyan's offense in a 5-1 week by hitting .526 with 16 runs scored and nine stolen bases, including five thefts in a single game against Bethel. Goodin also homered three times and drove in nine runs.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Will Eldridge, Indiana Wesleyan
Eldridge threw seven no-hit innings over two appearances, taking the win in a combined no-hitter for IWU against Goshen. The freshman fanned nine over that five-inning start and ended the week with 13 strikeouts in seven innings, without allowing a run or a hit.
Softball Player of the Week
Macee Marcum, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Marcum fueled a 4-0 week for RV Mount Vernon Nazarene which included a sweep of No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan. Marcum batted .643 in the four games, hitting four doubles, three home runs and driving in 12 runs to go with nine runs scored for the Cougar offense.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sheridan Sullivan, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Sullivan went 2-0 with one save in the circle for RV Mount Vernon Nazarene, highlighting a sweep of No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan with a complete game win in the opener and a save in the nightcap. For the week, Sullivan tallied 26 strikeouts in 14 frames and a 0.50 ERA.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Sofia Loren Munoz, Indiana Wesleyan
Munoz led the No. 16 Wildcats to wins over IU Southeast and No. 25 Cardinal Stritch by going a combined 4-0. Munoz did not drop a set in the two wins at No. 1 singles and added a pair of convincing victories at No. 2 doubles.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Isaac Steiner, Indiana Wesleyan
Steiner posted a combined mark of 5-1 for Indiana Wesleyan during a 2-1 week for the Wildcats. Steiner went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-1 at No. 1 doubles for IWU, including a singles win over No. 19 Cardinal Stritch.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Keara Eder, Marian
Eder finished sixth-of-99 for Marian at the Music City Classic. The freshman opened with a 79, before carding back-to-back scores of 72 to surge up the leaderboard.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Noah Ross, Taylor
Ross took a pair of third-place finishes for No. 6 Taylor, helping the Trojans finish second at the Garn Championships and first at the weather-shortened Purgatory Intercollegiate. Ross fired a season-best 67 and averaged 73.3 per round on the week.
Women's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak stole the show at her home meet, winning the 100-hurdles, 4x100-relay, high jump and long jump at the Knight Open. Oleksak posted NAIA A-standards in the 100-hurdles, 4x100-relay and high jump and provisionally qualified for nationals in the long jump.
Women's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Jai-Lyn Norwood, Marian
Norwood won the triple jump for Marian at its home meet with an NAIA-A standard distance of 12.53 meters. Norwood also won the 4x100-relay for MU and took second in the 400-meters, while automatically qualifying for nationals in the 4x100-relay.
Men's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Bryan Hernandez-Rios, Grace
Hernandez-Rios topped a field of NCAA Division I runners to win the 1,500-meters at the Oliver Nikoloff Invite with a time of 3:51.99. The senior followed his A-standard time in the 1,500 with a fifth-place showing and B-standard time in the 5,000-meters.
Men's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Christian Rios, Marian
Rios won the hammer and discus for Marian at the Knight Open, automatically qualifying for NAIA Nationals in each event. Rios also set a new school record with his mark of 60.24 meters in the hammer.
