JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from April 24-30. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Ian McCutcheon, Huntington
McCutcheon sparked Huntington to a 6-0 week by hitting .565 with six extra-base hits, seven runs batted in, nine runs scored and seven stolen bases without being caught.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Evan Etchison, Grace
Etchison took two starts for Grace on the bump in the final week of the regular season and helped the Lancers clinch their spot in the CL Tourney with two wins and a 1.20 earned-run average over 15 innings of work.
Softball Player of the Week
Tori Miller, Saint Francis
Miller led Saint Francis to a 6-0 week by hitting .450 with four home runs, 11 runs batted in and five runs scored. Along the way, Miller set USF's single-season home run record.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Wagner, Indiana Wesleyan
Wagner pitched a pair of shutouts for No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan, logging complete-game wins over SAU and Huntington. The junior fanned 19 hitters in 14 innings, did not allow a run and yielded just five hits and four walks.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Summer Stillson, Grace
Stillson led Grace at the Saint Francis Spring Invite, topping a field of 21 individuals with scores of 77 and 78 to claim medalist honors.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Blake Lawson, Grace
Lawson finished second-of-29 at the Battle at Brookwood, leading the Lancers with scores of 77 and 69 on the par-72, 6,746-yard course.
Women's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Addy Wiley, Huntington
Wiley broke the NAIA national record in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:12.53 at the Drake Relays. The Huntington freshman finished fourth among a field of professionals and later ran a 4:31 mile at the USATF Road Mile Championship.
Women's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Destiny Copeland, Huntington
Copeland hit NAIA automatic qualifying marks in the long jump and triple jump at the Drake Relays and broke her own HU record with a distance of 12.11 meters in the triple jump. Copeland later competed in the Kip Janvrin Open and won the long jump.
Men's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Zach Collins, Huntington
Collins automatically qualified for NAIA Nationals in the 200-meters with a time of 21.27 and later provisionally qualified for nationals in the 400-meters with a mark of 48.31. Collins' time in the 200 was the second-fastest in Huntington program history.
Men's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Bryce Willard, Grace
Willard won the discus at his home meet, posting a mark of 41.82 meters to top a field of 21 competitors at the Lancer Invitational.
