JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from May 1-7. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Nick Wiley, Indiana Wesleyan
Wiley hit .500 over four Crossroads League Tournament games for IWU, going seven-for-14 with one double, one home run and five runs scored for the Wildcat lineup.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Hunter Hoffman, Indiana Wesleyan
Hoffman helped Indiana Wesleyan to three wins in the Crossroads League Tournament, earning one win and two saves in his three appearances. The senior did not allow a run over 7.1 innings, allowed just three hits and struck out nine.
Softball Player of the Week
Savannah Harweger, Marian
Harweger led No. 9 and top-seeded Marian to a sweep through the Crossroads League Tournament by hitting .545 with five runs scored, one home run and three stolen bases in MU's three contests.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Mackenzie Noah, Taylor
Noah powered eighth-seeded Taylor's run to the CL Tournament Championship game by going 4-0 in elimination games and knocking out the No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 seeds. Noah posted a 1.18 ERA over 23.2 innings in the four appearances.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Brandon Heffner, Marian
Heffner won the Crossroads League Championship by shooting successive rounds of 70-78-71 and also helped his Marian squad secure the team crown.
Women's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak scored the most points of any individual at the CL Championships, earning individual titles in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump, and also posting all-league efforts in the 200-meters and 4x100-meter relay.
Women's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Arriana Benjamin, Marian
Benjamin helped Marian to the team championship at the league meet by winning the hammer, taking second in the shot put and ending fifth in the discus. Benjamin it A-standards in the hammer and discus and scored the most points of any thrower at the meet.
Men's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Nelson Kemboi, Goshen
Kemboi was named the CL Championships Most Outstanding Men's Track Athlete after winning the 10,000-meters and finishing second in the 5,000-meters. Kemboi provisionally qualified for NAIA Nationals in each event.
Men's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Christian Rios, Marian
Rios finished top-three in each of his three throwing events, winning the Crossroads League Championship in the discus and ending runner-up in the shot put and hammer. Rios automatically qualified for NAIA Nationals in all three events.
