JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from February 3 through 9. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Zion Neat, Goshen
Neat scored over 20 points in each of Goshen's games, netting 30 in an upset of Grace and averaging 25.5 points in the two games on a 58.8-percent clip from the floor. Neat was on-target from deep, drilling seven-of-13 looks from beyond the arc.
Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Peyton Murphy, Grace
Murphy stuffed the stat sheets for Grace against Taylor and Goshen, averaging 23.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 5.0 steals, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks. Murphy went for 18 rebounds in the win over Taylor and had six steals against Goshen.
Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Anton Webb, Taylor
Webb averaged 25.0 points per game in a pair of overtime thrillers for Taylor, while shooting 69.0 percent from the field. Webb scored 34 in a near-upset at No. 12 Grace, and finished with 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Ian Scott, Grace
Scott played a big role in No. 12 Grace's wins over Taylor and Goshen, picking up 11.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per victory. In addition to his defensive work, Scott posted 16.5 points and 4.0 assists per outing.
Women's Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Lea Kunstmann, Saint Francis
Kunstmann set a new USF record and posted the seventh-best mark in the NAIA this season by crossing with an A-standard and first-place time of 9:52.04 in the 3,000-meters. The freshman went on to add a third-place finish in the distance-medley relay.
Women's Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Delaney Teachnor, Marian
Teachnor highlighted Marian's showing at the Fairgrounds Invite by taking third and hitting the NAIA B-standard in the pole vault with a height of 3.62 meters.
Men's Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Tristan Trevino, Marian
Trevino hit a personal-best time of 4:09.59 in the mile for Marian at the Fairgrounds Invite. Trevino scored a win in the event, broke his own MU record and hit the A-standard with his performance.
Men's Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Brenden Endres, Marian
Endres posted a season-high with a height of 4.55 meters in the pole vault for Marian at the Fairgrounds Invite. The junior finished fourth overall as the top non-NCAA Division I competitor in the event.
Baseball Player of the Week
Andrew Sinish, Indiana Wesleyan
Sinish highlighted a 3-1 start to the season for RV Indiana Wesleyan by hitting .545 with one home run and five runs batted in. The sophomore also walked four times, fanned only twice and scored three runs for the Wildcats.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Brock Buckley, Indiana Wesleyan
Buckley led RV Indiana Wesleyan to a 3-1 upset of No. 5 Cumberlands by tossing five scoreless frames in his start on the bump. The junior allowed just one hit and one walk in the five innings, taking the win and striking out seven.
