JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from March 17 through 23. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Kaleb Kolpien, Taylor
Kolpien had a pair of four-hit games and piled up 11 hits in a four-game series win over MVNU, batting .733 and tying No. 13 Taylor's all-time career hits mark. The senior also swatted three home runs and drove in seven without striking out once in 15 at bats.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Seth Hogg, Marian
Hogg went 2-0 on the bump for Marian with wins over Huntington and Spring Arbor. The sophomore fanned 15 batters over his 14 innings of work and posted a 1.29 ERA to go with a 0.93 WHIP.
Softball Player of the Week
Jenna Minnix, Marian
Minnix helped No. 11 Marian to a 6-0 week by hitting .714 with one double and one home run in her 14 at bats. Minnix also scored six times, drove in nine runs and stole one base for the Knights.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Macy Coan, Marian
Coan led No. 11 Marian to a trio of comfortable wins with her work in the circle. The sophomore went 3-0 with two complete games and did not yield an earned run in 17 innings. Coan walked just one and only allowed nine hits for a 0.00 ERA and 0.59 WHIP.
Women's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Jaynie Halterman, Taylor
Halterman picked up right where she left off from indoor season for Taylor, winning her first race of the outdoor season in record-breaking fashion. The undefeated freshman finished the 5,000-meter race in 16:09.75 to break the TU record and automatically qualify for Nationals.
Women's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Brooke Coffman, Marian
Coffman won the high jump at the IWU Polar Bear Invitational and automatically qualified for NAIA Nationals. The sophomore posted a mark of 1.69 meters to open her outdoor campaign.
Men's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Ryan Hanak, Taylor
Hanak finished second-of-75 runners in the 5,000-meters at Indiana Wesleyan's Polar Bear Invitational. Hanak crossed with a NAIA B-standard time of 14:47.28 to qualify for NAIA Nationals.
Men's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Josh Forbes, Taylor
Forbes provisionally qualified for NAIA Nationals in his first pole vault attempt of the outdoor season, clearing 4.80 meters to win the event at Indiana Wesleyan's Invitational.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Kylee Purdy, Indiana Wesleyan
Purdy took medalist honors at Taylor's Purgatory Intercollegiate with rounds of 75 and 77 over the two-day event. Purdy's first-place finish helped No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan secure the team title.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Camron Jones, Grace
Jones turned in a win and a third-place finish for Grace, taking third at the Blue Raider Classic, before topping the field at the Purgatory Intercollegiate. Jones shot under 70 in three of his five rounds for the Lancers.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Sofia Munoz, Indiana Wesleyan
Munoz led No. 24 Indiana Wesleyan to a 6-1 team win over Indiana Tech with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles for the Wildcats.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Pablo Gregori, Grace
Gregory led No. 14 Grace to a 7-0 lead win over Judson, winning 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
