
Knights Land Pair of Victories in Home Invitational Setting Program Scoring Record
INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian competitive cheerleading squad put on one of their best displays in program history on Saturday afternoon in front of their home crowd, as the Knights won both rounds of their home Knight Invitational. Marian's scores were their top two of the season, and led the Knights to wins over conference rival Indiana Wesleyan while setting their highest score in program history.
In the first round of competition, Marian competed against both Indiana Wesleyan and Brescia University. The Wildcats led off with a score of 87.42, while Brescia came in with a 61.88 score. Marian finished off the third round, and put up their top score in program history, recording an 89.50, stamping a victory in the first round of the day. Marian scored the highest for their choreography, leading all teams in the competition.
After their round one win, Marian followed up with another strong performance in round two, as they scored an 86.38 out of the two-hole. Brescia led off with a 60.49 score, and Indiana Wesleyan scored an 82.93 as the third team to compete. The University of St. Francis joined the competition for the second round, and scored a 70.30 to finish third.
Marian's efforts move them into the top-10 nationally after their performances. The Knights next compete on February 23 at Life University.
