Trojans Cruise Past 100 in Victory During 26th-Annual Ivanhoes Silent Night
UPLAND, Ind. – The Trojans surpassed one hundred in the 26th-Annual Ivanhoes Silent Night game, as they cruised to a 103-65 victory in front of a raucous crowd that was dressed to the nines on Friday evening.
The TU offense came out of the gates with determination to quickly end the silence, and after less than four minutes, Gavin Yoon drained a triple to send the crowd into a frenzy that quickly spilled onto the court.
Yoon, a senior, broke the quiet for the first time and became the 20th Trojan to do so. Taylor improved to 25-1 in the annual Silent Night game and scored over the century mark for the fourth time in an impressive display.
The Trojans (5-6, 0-3 CL) never trailed and had a quintet of players notch double digits led by Anton Webb with 18. Webb grabbed 13 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the young season.
Izaiah Day scored a season-high 11 points on five shots while splashing home a trifecta of triples. His classmate, Pete Combs, had an efficient six points on two shots while grabbing five rebounds.
Taylor continued to run away from Great Lakes Christian (2-5), and the TU crowd got its wish late in the second half when John McLimore entered the game with the Trojans sitting on 99 points and a 38-point lead.
The crowd of frenzied college students entertained the entire night with skits during timeouts, singing songs, and screaming their heads off throughout the contest. Guy Fieri, Ronald McDonald, and Waldo were just a trio of the costumes featured in this year's crowd.
Taylor takes on Ohio Christian (3-7) next, with their matchup on Tuesday, December 19th, inside Odle Arena set to tip-off at 1:00 pm.
