Marian Wins Inaugural Men's Bowling Crossroads League Meet

Mount Vernon, Ohio - The Marian men's bowling team dominated their second weekend of the 2021-2022 season, taking home first place at the inaugural Crossroads League Bowling Invitational. Jordan Shepherd headlined as the top bowler on the Knights' team, taking home the individual title. The win is the first of the season for the Knights in Crossroads League action.

The Knights had a strong outing as a team, winning the baker games by 160 pins. Marian's team knocked down 3239 pins in the 16 games, posting an average of 202.44 in the tournament. In the baker games, Marian used a strong game one (222 pins) and game four (263) pins to help capture an early lead in the field. Marian had nine games with 200 pins or more, helping the team take first over Spring Arbor.

Individually, Marian placed 1-4 in the four individual games, with Jordan Shepherd leading the charge to win with a total of 859 pins. Shepherd averaged 214.8 per game, and had his best game with a 229 in game two. Nickolas Archacki finished second with an 857, and two pins behind him was Nolan Blessing with a total of 855. Jeffery Mann rounded out the top-four with an 838. Nicholas Beedie bowled in two of the four games knocking over 343 pins, and rounding out the team was Brendon Fuller (212, game four) and Zachary Littelmann (156, game one).

Marian's overall total for the day was 7359, helping Marian defeat Spring Arbor by over 500 pins. In the individual games, Marian was 600 pins over the field average, and in the baker games they bowled 400+ pins over the field average.

Marian's JV team won the JV competition, bowling a team total of 3530 in the four games. Jacob Cramer led the men in the JV with a 744, while Taylor Branigan bowled a 708. Seth Becker competed in three games bowling a 546, and of the Knights that bowled two games Matthew Watson led the team with a 366. In the baker games, Marian knocked down 2808 pins over 16 games.

Marian will host the Western Shootout this weekend in Indianapolis at Western Bowl on Saturday October 16 and Sunday October 17.
