TU Men Top Field at Purgatory Intercollegiate
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The sixth-ranked Taylor men's golf team continued to roll in its latest tournament, this time taking first place out of 14 teams at the Purgatory Classic. TU shot a first-round score of 294 on Friday and took the title after Saturday's action was washed out by weather.
TU edged out RV Saint Thomas (297) and RV Lawrence Tech (305) for the championship, riding the strong play of Noah Ross and Javan Johnson throughout Friday's round. Ross and Johnson each shot a one-over score of 73 to finish in a tie for third.
Lance VanErmen also shot a 73 to tie with Ross and Johnson while competing as an individual. Other top finishers for Taylor included Erik Fahlen and Adam Kasitz tying for eighth overall after shooting a 74.
No. 6 Taylor (89-5) is set to play again on April 17 at the Ackerman-Allen Shootout in West Lafayette.
