
No. 17 IWU Takes Down No. 9 Indiana Tech in Upset
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer scored a last minute goal to take down No. 9 Indiana Tech! The game started with an attack by Indiana Tech that was saved by keeper Kadin Wolfe. Later on, it was the Wildcats' turn to attack which resulted in a goal for Volkan Celikkol off of an assist by Brandon Nyagurungo in the 6th minute. IWU scored next in the 24th minute when Brandon Nyagurungo got his second assist to Guzman Trigo. Indiana Tech scored twice before the end of the half to tie the game at 2-2. The second half was all defense as neither team could find the net for the majority of the half. The game winning goal came from a header by Yarek Carnegie in the 88th minute to put the Wildcats up 3-2.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Volkan Celikkol started off the scoring for the Wildcats in the 6th minute assisted by Brandon Nyagurungo.
- Shortly into the 24th minute, IWU went up 2-0 after Guzman Trigo found the back of the net for the second time this year off of Brandon Nyagurungo's second assist of the night.
- Indiana Tech responded with two goals of their own to tie the score at 2-2 going into the half.
- The second half was highlighted by the back and forth battle between the two defenses as no goals were scored by either side.
- That is until the 88th minute when Yarek Carnegie scored a beautiful header through a chaotic scene to give the Wildcats a 3-2 advantage
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- 3: Three goals were needed to get IWU their third win on the year.
- 14: The Wildcats shot fourteen times on the night compared to nine from Indiana Tech..
- 6: IWU took a total of six corner kicks on the night and had six shots on goal.
