
Spring Arbor Upsets No. 8 IWU in OT to Advance to CL Semifinals
MARION, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University men's soccer team went on the road and knocked off No. 8 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University 3-2 in overtime in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
Matheus Cunha provided the game-winner, scoring just over five minutes into the extra period.
With the win, the Cougars advance to the tournament semifinals where they will meet Grace College on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

MATCH NOTES
- Spring Arbor, the No. 6-seed in the Crossroads League Tournament traveled to No. 3-seed Indiana Wesleyan for a quarterfinal matchup. The Cougars and Wildcats met just one week ago in the regular season finale where the two sides battled to a 2-2 draw.
- There were fireworks early in tonight's match with Spring Arbor scoring twice in the first 18 minutes. The first tally was recorded as an own goal by IWU in the 12th minute. Then, less than four minutes later, Jack Reynolds found the back of the net to give SAU a quick 2-0 lead.
- The Cougars maintained their lead until late in the contest when the Wildcats scored two goals in three minutes. A penalty kick was awarded to IWU in the 70th minute and just three minutes later, the home team found the equalizer.
- In overtime, Matheus Cunha played the hero, scoring on a long range shot to stun the Wildcats and send the Cougars into the conference semifinals for the third straight year.
- Spring Arbor finished with seven shots while Indiana Wesleyan collected 13.
- Goalkeeper Jack Cristini made six saves on the night, including a pair of clutch stops in the closing minutes of regulation.

Spring Arbor travels to Winona Lake, Indiana to take on No. 2-seeded Grace on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m.
The winner advances to the Crossroads League Tournament Championship match on Saturday, Nov. 12 where they will meet either Huntington University or Marian University.
