
Spring Arbor Captures CL Tournament Championship

INDIANAPOLIS – The Spring Arbor University men's soccer team played for the Crossroads League Tournament title at Marian University on Wednesday night and did not disappoint. Despite the wet and rainy conditions, the Cougars scored early and often on the way to a 4-1 victory and claiming the Crossroads League crown.
Jack Voight had two goals while Sahel Yessen and Rood Schnaider also found the back of the net.
The win gave SAU its fourth tournament title, and first since 2020, and secured its spot in the 2024 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship.

MATCH NOTES
- It did not take long for Spring Arbor to strike with Jack Voight starting the scoring at the 2:48 mark of the first half.
- The Cougars, the tournament's No. 6-seed, maintained their lead until late in the first half when Marian, the No. 4-seed, scored off a deflected shot to send the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
- In the second half, Spring Arbor was able to put the game away with three tallies. Sahel Yessen opened the flood gates with a goal in the 64th minute. Voight notched his second of the night in the 83rd minute and Rood Schnaider sealed the win with his goal in the 85th minute.
- Marian collected 21 shots on the night while SAU finished with 15.
- Head coach Marco Bernardini and his squad are getting hot at the right time of year, extending their unbeaten streak to six with four wins coming against opponents ranked or receiving votes in the national poll.

The NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship field will be announced on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. ET on the NAIA Network.
The first and second rounds of the tournament will be played on Nov. 21-23 at campus sites. The winner of each host site will advance to the final site in Wichita, Kansas.
