Marian Topples NCAA DI Saint Francis

Hilton Head, S.C. - The Marian men's tennis team earned their first win of the spring season on Monday afternoon, doing so with a 4-3 victory against NCAA DI Saint Francis in their Spring Break opener. The Knights are now 8-7 on the season.

Jones McNamar and James Ashworth claimed the first defeat of the morning at No. 1 doubles, 6-4. Juan Garcia-Tunon and Marcos Ramos Cabrera fell at No. 2 doubles, 7-5. Saint Francis was able to gain the point with their defeat at No.3 doubles over Tjark Kunkel and Jan Bartolome, 6-3.

Bogdan Precupescu reign victorious at No.1 singles, 6-3, 6-0 as well as Ashworth at No. 2, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(12). Garcia-Tunon and Bartolome fell with Juan falling at No. 3, 7-5, 6-2, 1-0(10) and Jan at No. 4, 6-1, 6-4. Ramos Cabrera won at No. 5, 6-2, 6-2 and Kunkel finished it of 6-3, 6-0 to claim the victory.

Marian will play Coastal Georgia and SCAD Savannah over the remainder of their trip.
