
Liwanag Earns NAIA Track Athlete Of The Week
Kansas City, Mo. - The NAIA has named Marian track and field sophomore Kyle Liwanag the NAIA Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the NAIA Wednesday afternoon. This is the first national honor of Liwanag's career.
Liwanag played an instrumental role in Marian's first Crossroads League Indoor Championship Title, scoring 30 points for his team with three first place finishes. Liwanag was a member of Marian's 4x800m relay championship team on Friday, winning the relay by nearly five seconds, helping the team break a their own Crossroads League Meet record set one year prior, setting an 'A' standard in the process with their time of 7:48.55.
The sophomore also won the 600m on Friday afternoon hitting the 'B' standard with a time of 1:22.71. Liwanag finished his weekend with a first place finish in the 800m, setting a new meet record and hitting the 'A' standard with a time of 1:55.08.
Marian will compete in a last-chance qualifier meet this Saturday in their final meet before indoor nationals.
