
Christian Rios Honored as NAIA Field Athlete of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Deveyon Blacknell of Madonna (Mich.) has been selected as the NAIA Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Christian Rios of Marian (Ind.) has been selected as the NAIA Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The duo was selected based on their performances from March 25 - 31 and were selected out of a pool of nominees from across the country.
This is the second consecutive week that the Knights have received the honor for NAIA Field Athlete of the Week, as Rios' honor follows Isaiah Tipping's from the previous week. Rios is the third different Knight to earn NAIA Field Athlete of the Week in the 2023-24 track season, as he was also named the USTFCCCA National Field Athlete of the Week in the NAIA.
Rios dominated his home meet, winning the hammer, shot put and discus. Rios hit A standards in each of the three events, breaking MU's record and posting the top mark in the NAIA this season with a distance of 64.03 meters in the hammer.
The Knights will travel to the University of Tennessee this weekend for their third meet of the 2024 outdoor season.
