Isaiah Tipping Earns Second NAIA Field Athlete of the Week Honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the third time in his senior season and second in the outdoor campaign, Marian men's track and field senior Isaiah Tipping has been named the NAIA National Field Athlete of the Week. Tipping's honor comes after being named the Crossroads League Field Athlete of the Week for a sixth time earlier this week.
Tipping dominated at the 119th Indiana Little State Championships last weekend, as he hit personal bests in both the hammer and shot put, breaking the meet record and school record with his hammer throw distance. Tipping's mark of 65.28m in the hammer is the fifth-best all-time in the NAIA, giving him the national lead entering the postseason stretch. Tipping's shot put mark gave him a personal best distance for the fourth consecutive meet, as he hit NAIA A standard marks in the shot put along with the discus. Tipping's placements at the meet included first in the hammer, second in discus, and third in shot put.
Marian has now earned a total of five NAIA Field Athlete of the Week honors in the 2023-24 track season, with Tipping and Jacob Netral earning the honor during indoor season, while Tipping has claimed the honor twice and Christian Rios has earned the title once.
The Knights next compete at the Crossroads League Championships, as the outdoor meet will be held at Indiana Wesleyan on May 2 and 3.
