
Underwood’s walk-off homer lifts SAU over No. 11 Marian
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Emilee Underwood delivered a pinch-hit, walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Spring Arbor University softball team posted a dramatic 4-3 victory over No. 11 Marian University on Friday afternoon.
The Cougars trailed 3-1 entering the home half of the seventh. Kennadi Killeen singled to lead off the inning and Elaina Walker followed with another hit, setting the stage for Underwood's heroics. After pitching in the first game of the doubleheader, Underwood came off the bench and drilled a game-winning three-run home run.
In game one of the twinbill, Marian scored in each of the first three innings on its way to handing SAU a 15-4 setback.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- A two-out error in the top of the first inning led to Marian scoring six unearned runs.
- The Knights added two runs in the second inning and pushed seven across in the third.
- Taylor Clark was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Megan Bondy doubled and drove in two while Kennadi Killeen also had a hit and RBI.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Marian struck first again with a run in the top of the first inning, but Spring Arbor answered with a run of its own when a single by Brooke Meeker allowed Summer Ambler to cross the plate.
- The Knights regained the lead with two runs in the fourth inning.
- Trailing 3-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, Killeen started the rally for the Cougars with a leadoff single. Two batters later, Elaina Walker singled to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Emilee Underwood entered the game as a pinch-hitter and drove the second pitch she saw over the fence in left-centerfield for a three-run homer and complete the come-from-behind victory.
- Ambler was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored while Meeker and Killeen also posted two hits each.
- Ava Poulson was terrific in the circle. The freshman pitcher limited the No. 11 ranked Knights to three runs over seven innings of work and struck out three batters.
