MARION, Ind. - Syanne Mohamed reached 1,000 career points during Goshen's 93-57 loss at #2 Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday night in Luckey Arena. The Wildcats used a dominant third quarter to improve to 18-0 this season.
Mohamed has exactly 1,000 career points at Goshen after her 10-point performance tonight. She had 205 points in each of her freshman and sophomore seasons, 395 as a junior, and 195 so far through her senior campaign. She becomes the 19th GC player to achieve the milestone and the first since 2021. Zion Neat scored 15 points tonight and currently sits at 999 point so far as a Maple Leaf. She had 866 points in two seasons at Columbia International University.
Goshen was outscored by at least five points in each quarter. The Leafs had five first quarter turnovers while the home team had none. Goshen was down 31-16 in the second quarter when head coach Tyra Carver took a timeout to reorganize. The Leafs then went on a 13-6 run to cut the lead down to eight. The teams combined to shoot at 73% in the quarter. Goshen was outrebounded by five but forced four turnovers and had seven points off of those turnovers. At the half, Neat was at 999 points.
However, her total stayed at 999, as the Leafs had ten turnovers in a third quarter that saw them only score six points. By the end of the quarter, Goshen was down 30 and Neat's night was done. Mohamed was the only GC player to score in the third quarter, and she hit 1,000 points with her final make of the night.
Goshen was outscored 21-15 in the fourth. The Maple Leafs made nearly the same percentage of shots as Indiana Wesleyan in the game, but they had 24 fewer attempts due to 18 more turnovers and seven fewer rebounds. Neat finished with 15 points and four rebounds and has scored 15 or more points in eight straight games. Mohamed was a rebound shy of a double-double at ten points and nine rebounds. Kiana Oelling led the team in assists with four. Emme Boots scored eight points on 4-4 shooting and Ava Egolf had a season-high with seven points and five rebounds - both more than her entire season combined before tonight.
