
Marian's Abbey McNally Named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week
Kansas City, Mo. - One day after being named as the Crossroads League Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, Abbey McNally of the Marian University women's basketball team has been named as the NAIA's Defensive Player of the Week. The honor is the first in the career for junior from Cincinnati.
McNally was a force for No. 15 Marian in its wins over Spring Arbor and Taylor, scoring 25 points in each game and shooting 65.6-percent from the floor. McNally hauled in 18 total rebounds with 14 coming on the defensive end against TU for a double-double and averaged 13.5 caroms per game for the week to aid her offensive end. On the defensive side, in Marian's wins over Spring Arbor and Taylor the junior recorded five blocks in each game, and averaged three assists per game. McNally averaged a double-double with her defensive rebounds alone, grabbing 10.5 on the defensive side.
The Knights host Goshen College on Wednesday night, aiming to secure a season sweep over the Maple Leafs when they take the floor at 5:30 p.m.
