
MU's McNally Brings Home Second NAIA Defensive Player-of-the-Week Award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - One day after being named as the Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week, Marian women's basketball junior forward Abbey McNally has been named as the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week. The honor is the second of the season for McNally.
After a pair of wins this past week, Abbey McNally earned her third Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week honor, which led to her second NAIA Defensive Player of the Week award. McNally averaged 21 points, 15 rebounds, 2.5 steals and assists, and one block per game while also posting a double-double in each of the contests, extending her double-double streak to seven consecutive games.
Over the week Abbey became Marian's single-season rebounding leader with her 20 rebounds in Wednesday's match-up against Mount Vernon. During that game she also recorded her fourth career 20-rebound game, recording 18 points, four assists, three steals, and two blocks. In Saturday's overtime upset over No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan she posted 24 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, and one steal leading the Knights to a 92-84 win to end out the regular season.
