
Spring Arbor Wins Fourth CL Tourney, Secures Fourth-Straight League Title
ELKHART, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's bowling team secured its fourth straight Crossroads League regular season championship at Crossroads League Tournament #4 on Saturday, held at Signature Lanes in Elkhart, Indiana.
The Cougars finished first out of eight teams at the final league meet of the year, outpacing the field by more than 200 pins. Huntington University was second with 4347 pins and Marian University followed in third with 4330.
Kayla Tafanelli claimed the individual title after collecting 662 pins over three games. The Cougars three other bowlers land inside the top-5. Kaylee Hall finished second with a 557, Mikayla Ponce was fourth with 539 and Jena Fijolek was fifth with 535.
Along with Saturday's performance, Spring Arbor finished first at CL Tournament #1 and CL Tournament #2 while earning second place at CL Tournament #3. Those placements gave the Cougars 70 total points – six more than conference runner-up Marian, which finished with 64.
Teams earned points based on their finish in each of the four conference events: 1st – 18 points, 2nd – 16 points, 3rd – 14 points, 4th – 12 points, 5th – 10 points, 6th – 8 points, 7th – 6 points, 8th – 4 points.
