
Thomas and Jung Honored as WGCA All-Americans
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Taylor's Maddie Thomas and Nicole Jung became two of just seven NAIA First-Team All-Americans honored by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) released today.
Jung and Thomas are both enjoyed stellar seasons for the 4th-ranked Taylor women's golf team prior to the cancelation of the 2019-2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jung, an NAIA First-Team All-American and the Crossroads League Player of the Year last season, posted a 75.11 scoring average through 18 tournament rounds during the 2019-2020 season. The junior from Santa Cruz, Bolivia won the Players Club Invitational and collected five Top-5 finishes in seven starts. Jung managed four rounds of even par or better during the 2019-2020 campaign, while totaling 15 of 18 rounds in the 70's.
Thomas, a senior from West Lake, Ohio, notched a 75.22 scoring average through 18 competitive rounds this season. The NAIA All-American has collected a pair of victories and six Top-5 finishes in seven starts. Thomas was remarkably consistent during the 2019-2020 campaign, carding four rounds of even par or better and tallying 17 of 18 rounds in the 70's.
Taylor was one of only two teams to place two players on the WGCA First-Team All-American list, joining No. 1-ranked Keiser with multiple first-team selections. Thomas and Jung were the only Crossroads League student-athletes to be honors by the WGCA as well.
