
Spring Arbor Claims Crossroads League Regular Season Title
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's soccer team captured the 2024 Crossroads League regular season championship after defeating No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan University 1-0 Wednesday night at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
Fifth-year senior Lauren Marshall, the team's leading goal scorer, came up big once again, providing the game's only tally in the third minute and the Cougars made it stand behind a seven save shutout effort from goalkeeper Reagan Kohler.
The title is the third for the Cougars in the last four years, and the program's 12th since 2006.
By claiming the regular season crown, head coach Shannon Andringa and her squad also secured the No. 1 seed and home field advantage throughout the upcoming Crossroads League Tournament.

MATCH NOTES
- The game's only goal came just over two minutes into the action. A corner kick from Fara Serra found the head of Ayla Thompson. Thompson's header was initially blocked, but Lauren Marshall was in the right spot at the right time to slip the rebound past the IWU goalkeeper and give SAU an early lead.
- Spring Arbor finished the night with 12 shots while Indiana Wesleyan registered 13.
- Goalkeeper Reagan Kohler stopped all seven shots she faced to record her eighth clean sheet of the season. The shutout was the fourth straight for the Cougars, who have not conceded a goal since Oct. 12.
- Marshall's goal was her 12th of the campaign, which ranks second in the Crossroads League.
- Spring Arbor snapped Indiana Wesleyan's 11-match unbeaten streak. The Wildcats had not lost a game since falling to No. 1 ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) on Sept. 7.

The Crossroads League Tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The No. 1-seeded Cougars will host No. 8-seed Bethel University (6-5-6, 0-4-5 CL) in the quarterfinal round.
