IWU's Sprinkles Named NAIA Runner of the Week
KANSAS CITY – Senior Jessica Sprinkles has been named NAIA Runner of the Week for her success in last weekends Midwest Classic.
Sprinkles hit NAIA A standards in the 1,000-meter run, while also breaking the Wildcat school record. Sprinkles time of 2:57.77 shattered the previous IWU record and currently sits as the fastest time in the NAIA.
"It's been a very fun season so far for Jessie, and seeing the progress she's made is exciting," said Head Track & Field Coach Caleb Snyder. "We still have a lot of work to do, but it's fun to see her earn this Athlete of the Week honor."
In addition, Sprinkles helped the 4000m Distance Medley Relay qualify for NAIA A standard, running a 12:31.38 as a team. The Wildcats took first place in the event by six seconds.
Women's track & field will hit the track next on February 14th and 15th, as IWU is hosting the Crossroads League Indoor Championships.
