
Taylor Claims 4x800 Relay National Title

YANKTON, S.D. – The 2021 Women's Indoor Track and Field NAIA National Championships ended in thrilling fashion, as the Trojans claimed All-American honors in all three races they competed in, highlighted by TU's dominant 4x800-meter relay NAIA National Title.
The Taylor women finished 14th overall, tallying a total of 16 points between three events.
The consistent foursome of Abbey Brennan, Giovanna Domene, Corinne O'Leary and Brooke Studnicki wrapped up their indoor track and field campaign with a first-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay. Brennan led off again for the Trojans, racing controlled the first two laps before taking a significant lead. Domene, O'Leary and Studnicki maintained the pace and finished with a new Taylor program record of 9:18.25. The same group of ladies finished fifth last year at nationals, setting the previous TU record. The championship squad won by 5-seconds, dominating the field behind them.
The next race on the track for the Trojans was the 60-meter hurdle finals. Patience Sakeuh earned her first All-American honor of her young collegiate career. Sakueh finished in eighth place with a time of 9.13. The freshman came into the national meet with the No. 16 ranking and finished well above her expected seed.
In the 5,000-meters, Livy Schroder collected the third All-American finish of the day. Schroder raced a competitive group, shifting between the top-eight the entire race. The senior kicked in a strong final few laps, claiming fourth-place and logging a second-best career time of 17:47.15.
The Trojans will have a few weeks off before they begin their outdoor track and field season on March 27 at Indiana Wesleyan.
