No. 8 IWU Hands No. 16 MVNU First Loss
MOUNT VERNON, OH. - No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan picked up a huge win on Wednesday evening, handing No. 16 Mount Vernon Nazarene their first loss of the season. The Cougars came into the match at 16-0. Indiana Wesleyan swept MVNU despite winning the three sets by a combined eight points.

Match Vitals
- MVNU used their home court advantage early in the first set, taking a 5-1 lead. The Wildcats battled back multiple times in the set before taking the lead for good at 18-17. IWU held on for a 25-21 victory.
- The Cougars used early set momentum again in set two forcing IWU to take a timeout trailing 12-8. Indiana Wesleyan took an 18-17 lead to force MVNU to use their first timeout. The Cougars regained the lead and were looking to even things up at 22-20, but a 5-1 run gave IWU a 25-23 win.
- The Wildcats took the early lead in set three, going up 11-4 before MVNU found their footing. Mount Vernon kept fighting and eventually took the lead at 22-21. IWU was down to their last point in set three, trailing 24-23. Following a timeout the visitors scored 4 of the next 5 points to secure the sweep 27-25.
- Eva Joldersma led the offense with 21 kills.
- Marissa Mullins secured the middle of the Wildcat defense with 5 blocks. Martina Demarchi and Julia Pricehad 4 each.
