
Taylor's Halterman Collects Two More Weekly National Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Continuing her perfect run of athlete-of-the-week honors, Taylor freshman Jaynie Halterman collected another pair of awards from the NAIA and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for her record-breaking performance at the Mizzou Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 27.
The NAIA named Halterman its Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 23-29 on Wednesday, following suit of the USTFCCCA bestowing the phenom its NAIA Women's Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Halterman won for the second time in as many collegiate events on Friday, Sept. 27, as she raced to a program-best time of 20:56.7. That mark beat out the runner-up competitor by 27.0 seconds, and it helped TU cruise to a finish in 1:48:40.9, a new 6k program record.
No. 4 Taylor (43-1) hosts the Ray Bullock Invitational on Oct. 11 at 4 p.m., set to take place at the TU Cross Country Farm.
